CJ Lewandowski the leader of the Bluegrass
Band "The Men Of The Week" will be calling in
on the Bluegrass Express this Sunday (Feb 7th)
at 8:30pm for an on air interview. The Men Of The
Week are based out of the Missouri Ozarks and
they are steeped in the traditions of Bluegrass
Music. Since early 2008 they have spread their
music all across the Midwest Bluegrass circuit,
traveling through the likes of Kentucky, Illinois,
Iowa, Indiana, Arkansas, Tennessee, just to
mention a few.
Previously on Charlie's Shows:

Larry Sparks who is a IBMA multiple award
wining Bluegrass Artist will be calling in the
Bluegrass Express this Sunday (Jan 31st) at
8:30pm for an on air interview. Larry is a
Bluegrass original who doesn't sound like
anyone else. That's rare in any style of music
where imitation is more than the sincerest form
of flattery. One gauge of success in Bluegrass
especially for younger musicians has always
been how faithfully they can recreate the sound
of say Bill Monroe, The Stanley Brothers or Flatt
& Scruggs. Larry Sparks never played that
game sounding like Larry Sparks was what he
wanted. Over the course of the last 40+ years
Larry Sparks has carved a unique niche for
himself in bluegrass. A number of songs
associated with him have become Bluegrass
standards..."John Deere Tractor"  "A Face In A
Crowd"  "Love Of The Mountains"  and
"Tennessee 1949"
Karl Shiflett will be calling in on the
Bluegrass Express this Sunday evening

Well, folks...I just had to share my excitement! Those of you who
know me well know that I am NOT shy. I try not to be outspoken
or obnoxious, but I'm certainly not afraid to speak up in front of a
crowd of people. Well, tonight I was speechless.Broke out into a
sweat, my heart was  racing, and I started searching for the right
words.

Here's what threw me into such a tizzy...(is that a word??)......My
new best
friend Charlie Hall notified me that he would be  interviewing
Rickey Wasson
on his radio program at WCYOFM radio in Kentucky. Charlie
knows what a fan I
am of Rickeys. I was listening to every word of the interview and
at the
same time I was shooting out emails to friends, telling them
about the radio  show and asking them to listen to
Rickey.Charlie gave details on the air about  a phone-in contest
he was having...the 12th caller would win some great  prizes,
including a pencil print I really wanted. I usually NEVER call in
for these contests...but I wanted that print, so I called, talked to
the  receptionist there, and found out that I was too late to win,
so I just asked her to  mention to Charlie that I had
called. She asked me to hold on....and the next  person I was
talking to
was RICKEY WASSON!!whoooooooooo hoooooooooo! Charlie
put Rickey on the line. He knew how thrilled I  would be. I have
NEVER been starstruck in my life. I've always been able to carry
on decent
conversations with anyone....but I totally didn't know what to say
to him. I found
myself stuttering and babbling about how much I enjoyed his
new cd, etc.
Hopefully, Dave Maggard, the co-writer of the song Lefty's Old
Guitar which Rickey sings will be in the chatroom, too. It was
namedSong of the Year by SPBGMA and also was Grammy
nominated.
If you don't have Rickey's new cd....From the Heart and
Soul.....do yourself  a favor and get it! What a great voice he has,
and
there's lots of good  talent accompanying him (JD Crowe, Ron
Stewart, Don
Rigsby, Adam Steffey, Dwight  McCall, Harold Nixon, Randy
Kohrs, and Sonya  Isaacs) It's been a fun, musical
weekend.....having Doyle Lawson recognize me as  Katey Hill
and talking personally to Rickey Wasson......it
don't get much better than this, folks!
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.

This Saturday on The Coyote Open Mic the in studio
