Ohio Woman Arrested After Damaging Multiple Vehicles at Richmond Gas Station

Earlier this week, the Richmond Police Department responded to a reported collision at a Speedway gas station located on the Eastern Bypass. Two vehicles were struck by the suspect, resulting in injury to one of the victims.

According to the arrest citation, 30 year-old Megan Maerean was behind the wheel when the incident occurred. Maerean’s car struck another after she reportedly shifted the vehicle into its reverse gear and accelerated instead of braking. Police say that Maerean struck an additional vehicle, pushing it into an ice chest located in front of the gas station causing severe damage. One adult victim was transported to a local hospital for examination of neck pain.

There were two children in Maerean’s car during this time, along with two adult subjects who told authorities that she was not supposed to be driving. Maerean was reportedly nodding off and “talking out of her head” before the incident.

When officers spoke with Maerean, she allegedly could not produce an insurance card for the vehicle. She admitted she had caused the collision, but told authorities that she had not used any substances except for marijuana two days prior.

Officers observed Maerean stumbling in the parking lot during the interview, and conducted sobriety tests which she reportedly failed.

Maerean was arrested and taken to the Madison County Detention Center where she was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, 1st and 3rd Degree Criminal Mischief, Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, 2nd Degree Wanton Endangerment, and Failure to Produce an Insurance Card. Restitutions are owed for the damages of the vehicles and the ice chest.
