Laurel County Man Pleads Guilty to Human Trafficking Charge, Receives Sentence of One Year

A man was reported to the Kentucky State Police, Harlan Post on Sunday after it was alleged that he was attempting to sell a child at a gas station in Corbin.

KSP investigators confirmed that Harry Day of Corbin had tried to sell the child for $2,500. A description and license plate of the vehicle Day was operating were given to KSP officials. Troopers were then able to locate the vehicle at an address on Spider Creek Road in Corbin.

Troopers were able to locate the child at the residence of Gertrude Henson, who is the child’s mother. While at the residence, troopers reportedly found Methamphetamine and various drug paraphernalia. According to police, both Henson and Day admitted to using Methamphetamine earlier that day.

Day was charged with Promoting Human Trafficking (Child Under 18) and Driving while Under the Influence. Henson was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, 3rd Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor. Both are currently lodged in the Knox County Detention Center.

Following his arrest, Day plead guilty to the Human Trafficking charge while at the Knox County Court Clerk’s Office on Monday. The charge carries a one-year jail sentence.
